A bookstore that sells books out on a boat!? We discovered the most unique and stylish bookstore in the world in London!

CLUTCH Magazine Store Art & Culture

There are various bookstores throughout the world, and our editorial staff visits many of them, oftentimes for work-related purposes. There are so many types of bookstores, ranging from classic bookstores that have historic atmospheres, to modern bookstores, bookstores with specific themes, and others that resemble a huge library carrying a vast number of books to choose from. In the past, we asked professional georama artists to create a CLUTCH Magazine Café using an old van, but we recently discovered a unique bookstore that fits into that world of imagination.

When you talk about the doorway to Londons railway system, St. Pancras station in Kings Cross, the last stop of the Eurostar line, is currently being redeveloped at an extremely high pace. The plan is to renovate the historic red brick buildings in the area and transform them into a shopping mall. To discover more about the renovations, we decided to visit the neighborhood. St. Marys University, considered one of the worlds best fashion schools, can also be found in this area.

As we took a lap around and walked along the canal, we ran into a unique floating bookstore.
Is someone living here? we thought, as we approached the boat.

With a sign that read Bookshop, there were a wide range of books being sold on the  boat. Then the owner of the boat came out and invited us onboard.

We were surprised at how well-organized the books were inside the shop. The inside resembled a classical living room, complete with a wood burning stove, Chesterfield sofa, antique typewriter and radio. The bookstore carries an assortment of paperback books, photo collections, old encyclopedias, and childrens books

word on the water
We can’t give an address, but the bookstore can be accessed by walking toward St. Mary’s from Kings Cross and turning right on the bridge connecting Regent's Canal. Walk along the canal and you won’t miss it.
